Funk Futures is assisting a software and advisory business in the commodity space that is seeking a results-driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to actively create new business opportunities, engage and build relationships, and qualify potential customers. The BDR will support a specific industry vertical sales team to help boost top-line revenue growth, customer acquisition and profitability. In this role, you will work closely with the industry vertical sales leader to qualify and nurture target prospects and introduce the company's suite of hedging advisory services and five time award-winning technology. The BDR will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm's go-to-market message, providing timely follow-up, and promptly scheduling introductory and technology demonstration meetings as well as maintaining records in the company CRM.


  • Proven lead generation as a sales professional

  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales prospecting techniques like cold calling, cold emailing, and social media (LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, etc.) outreach

  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record of achieving sales quotas 

  • Fair understanding of sales performance metrics 

  • Must possess strong prospecting, communication, listening and negotiation skills

  • Good interpersonal, time management, organizational, and leadership skills 

  • Exceptional research skills

  • Growth mindset – personal and professional (company, product, services, industry) development

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Teams, etc.

  • Familiarity with HubSpot and CRM leading practices

  • Confidence speaking with C-Suite prospects and decision-makers

  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent


  • Reach out to potential customer leads through cold calling and email communications

  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns, website activity, etc.

  • Introduce the company, present our suite of services/technology, and schedule a follow up call with qualified prospective customers

  • Establish a positive rapport with prospective customers

  • Achieve agreed upon performance targets and outcomes

  • Regularly collaborate with sales team members and other departments

  • Continuously improve through internal and external feedback

  • Constantly enter and update sales activity and critical data fields within HubSpot (CRM)

  • Prepare results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual vertical analysis, as needed

  • Keep industry vertical sales leaders abreast of your activities and results

  • Monitor industry vertical news, trends and competitor landscape

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops internally and externally, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional organizations and events
